discover matcha tea

Matcha powder is significantly different than other green tea powders. First its taste is much sweeter and smoother due to the fact it lacks the bitter tannins of other green tea powders. This sweetness is partial due to a higher concentration of amino acids which give it a sweeter taste. Matcha has and ORAC antioxidant score of 1384/1 gram making it highest antioxidant count in nature. Matcha has 10-15 times the nutrients of regular black, green or white tea.

To make matcha tea in the original way one needs a traditional matcha whisk, a matcha bowl, traditional matcha scoop and of course matcha warmed to room temperature. Add 1and ½ to 2 matcha scoops to the matcha bowl. Add about ¼ of a cup of hot water about 175-190 degrees. Then briskly whisk the mixture being careful to hold the whisk in the vertical position while barely touching the bowl's bottom. Whisk as fast as you can till you notice a light form forming on the top of the bowl. Then slowly remove the whisk from the bowl.

Matcha is the ancient tea with an amazing history rooted in Japanese culture at the same time it is the powerful health food with high levels of antioxidants and amino acids. You might say it is the Zen of teas.
